1 Give PRAISE and ENCOURAGEMENT openly and without reservation. 2 BE CONSISTENT with discipline. 3 Use MEDIA such as movies, CDs and television shows as conversation starters. 4 Involve your child as much as possible in making FAMILY RULES and decisions. 5 Be a good ROLE MODEL for your child. 6 READ TO YOUR CHILD every day oe let him or her read to you. 7 Discuss your FAMILY’S VALUES and why you have them. 8 TALK with your child about risky behavior such as those involving alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and sexuality. Be open, honest and approachable.

A Father's Prayer Dear God, my Heavenly Father, thank You for my "call" to be a father.  Thank You for my children, each a precious gift from You. May I be for them the kind of loving father that You are to me. As You have written my name on Your heart, so, too, hold my children near and lavish Your love upon them. Bless, too, all those fathers who have gone to their rest.  May they enjoy the peace that only You can give. St. Joseph, patron saint of fathers, pray for all fathers. Amen.
